Even my EV F150 would be only about $60 from 0-100% at peak PG&E summer rates (4pm-8pm). And I just avoid those charging times, so it’s more like $40.

PG&E might be one of the worst in the US. Over 50 cents per KWH during peak summer prices. And my truck is 130KWH.

My solar array should pay for itself in under 10 years.

          That sounds disgusting.

I’ve got myself locked in to 11 cents per kWh at day and 9 cents at night/weekend, plus whatever the unavoidable grid fee is (less than 5 cents AFAIK).

Kinda sucks that I won’t be able to take advantage of the lower prices in the summer (they can go negative, which to the consumer means 0), but the absolute worst I’ve seen in the winter time is the market limit of 5€/kWh, with mid-high double digit cents happening fairly often. And I use a heat pump in the winter whereas running it in AC mode in the summer is pretty optional in the summer.

At least once I get an EV, I’ll always know ahead of time what it’ll cost me to charge at home, even if I’ll pay several times more in the summer than the folks on the variable plan.
