An ex once said my diet is like 90% cheese, and when I tried to refute that claim, I had difficulty making a case that I don’t actually eat that much cheese. That was the day that I realized I may have a problem. But since nobody shames anyone for being a cheese-aholic, I’m not even going to attempt to quit.

Did you miss the multiple points in my message where I said I’m not defending it? I don’t understand why the guy is recording. I don’t get why these random people care. From the second you leave your house, 90% of your day is recorded. Between doorbell cameras, and red light cameras, and store cameras, and dash cams on other cars. You’re being recorded pretty much everywhere except for the bathroom.

I don’t understand the outrage because I don’t get the hook.

Like if you said this guy was following just one woman, repeatedly, then I would understand. That’s stalking.

If he were doing it at the beach, I would understand, because clearly there’s a sexual element to what he’s doing.

But I don’t understand the hook, because I don’t get why he’s doing it. What’s the appeal of watching random women at the grocery store? What’s the point in posting them online? What is the cause of the outrage? You’re being recorded from his glasses, yes, but you’re also being recorded from like 8 other camera angles with or without him. And I don’t understand posting them online. Who would watch these videos?

NONE of it makes sense to me. You seem to think I’m attacking this woman, when in fact what I’m asking is “What the hell is any of this?” Either the article left out some key piece of context that explains everything, or I just don’t get it. But I’m not attacking her.

I have some bad news for you. You are the minority. Most people on the fediverse are in the minority.

We are the type of people who have linux on our pcs. Linux on pcs only have a 5% market share, and thats an all time high.

People on lemmy naturally avoid sites like tiktok. Not because of politics, but because tiktok as a format is just annoying.

The idiots are everywhere. So if google falsely identifies the 5% as bots, and you just stop visiting the webpage, they don’t care. Your protests will not stop this. You aren’t wrong that you’d have to be an idiot to go along with this, but the world is filled with idiots.

When I walk in public, I know 9 out of 10 times I’m the smartest person in the area. Not because I’m actually really smart, but because the world around me is filled with morons who refuse to engage in critical thinking. If everyone around me just stopped to think for themselves, and got in the habit of regularly doing so, I would no longer be the smartest man in most rooms.

Until that happens, you have to view everything that happens with a different outlook. Don’t ask “Is this a good idea that smart people would do?” Instead ask “Is this something the mouth breathers will not question?”

And once you look at it from that angle, you’ll begin to realize one horrifying thought. Nothing in this world is being done for your benefit. It’s all being done to your detriment.

And then they wonder why I don’t talk to them much. Hell, my brother in law SUPPORTS ai. He denies that its stealing jobs. Denies that its destroying the planet, and eating massive amounts of resources.

He says “I think we would have heard about something like that” while ignoring all the times I’ve shown him articles about the times we heard about that. He denies that copilot in windows 11 screen captures you.

I’m just getting myself worked up again. My point is, you aren’t wrong that only an idiot would fall for this, but you aren’t considering that this world is like 85% idiots.

I’m not defending the tactic of recording her without her knowledge. But I am confused. The article said she was shopping. It never said she stole anything. It never said she did anything incriminating. It never said she did anything embarassing.

So I guess my question is…why did she care that a video of her grocery shopping was posted? Seems like a boring video that she really can’t be blackmailed over. She’s (assumingly) fully clothed while shopping. Not doing anything illegal.
