I did not find pleasure in seeing a man die, but holy shit the comedic timing of that bullet for maximum irony was just astounding. It’s the equivalent of Trump getting struck by lightning immediately after saying “I did not fuck my daughter, and if I’m lying, may god strike me dead!”.

        [Intro]
        Oompa loompa doompety doo.
I’ve got a story of caution for you.
        Oompa loompa doompety dee.
About a man spreading hatred with glee.
        [Verse]
What do you get when you are spreading lies?
You say guns don’t kill, but we ve got eyes.
It would be a disgrace, if for a change of pace.
You-instead of kids- got shot in the face.
        [Outro]
        Oompa loompa doompety da.
You harvest hate if that’s what you sow.
Instead, you could spread, happiness too.
Like the Oompa Loompa doompety do Doompety do.

This was created with non artificial stupidity

What is with this “dark humor bad” cliche? Since when is dark humor synonymous with racism/sexism/etc-ism?

To me dark humor has always been something more akin to self deprecating jokes, punchlines like “but doctor, I am Pagliacci”, or making light of the futility of life.

Racist jokes are racist jokes. That doesn’t make them dark humor.

I think there is a difference between racial jokes and racist jokes. I also think either can be considered dark humor. One is just typically cringe.

notice in the meme that “dark humor” is in quotes. racist jokes ARE racist jokes, but racists try to call racist jokes “dark humor,” which is both false and giving actual dark humor a bad name

There are a lot of shitty people (republicans and racists ime, but that venn diagram is basically a circle) that hide their shitty opinions behind “jokes” that aren’t jokes until someone calls them on their shit. That’s why you’ll hear them say inflammatory things then back off the “it’s just a joke, calm down” and/or try to give you shit about not being able to handle edgy/dark humor. Think the “comedy is legal” crowd.

Racist jokes are racist jokes. That doesn’t make them dark humor.

See, that doesn’t matter. The “dark humor” aspect is irrelevant, it’s just another excuse to hide behind.

You have to remember, words don’t mean anything to these people, they’re just a rhetorical trick to win the argument.

The humor is in the irony of a guy famous for accepting that access to guns means society must have a tolerance for people getting killed by gun violence getting his throat blown out while discussing gun violence. The darkness is having no sympathy when you know you should be concerned another person was struck down by gun violence, but just laugh and say “fuck you Chuck, you reap what you sow”.

Okay, so here’s a random joke: A gas station owner asks me whether I’d like leaded or unleaded, and instead of either, I call him a “N%%%ER”, because he’s black, and tell him he should go back to Africa. And say I claim it’s funny, because it’s unexpected and extreme! But also just a joke to be edgy - I’m not “actually racist”!

Would you agree, and find that to be dark humor, or just offensive? Though exaggerated, that’s pretty much what many people deal with in terms of conservative “humor”. Aside from being offensive by any normal view, the secondary crime is they’re not even funny; just baiting for “offense”.

While I agree with cutting down on “Rtard” as a flippant insult, I haven’t even seen significant uptick on that preference in the left. It’s more likely to me it was seen once, and demonized by the right because it’s easier to hate on some phantom censorship-adjacent concept than it is to have a genuine opinion on something.

The trend of hallucinatory demonization, like “Trans kids are terrorists” or “There’s rampant voter fraud from immigrants” or “You can’t say Christmas anymore” certainly tracks with the rest of the right’s viewpoints.
